Film and podcasts

Everything on screen needs a paper trail

A festival, a distributor or a sponsor will ask the same question: can you show that everyone in this project agreed to be in it? If the answer is a group chat, that is the first thing to fix.

I write the releases, hosts' agreements and crew deal memos that make the answer yes, and I read what comes back from distributors before you sign.

  • Hosts' and guests' agreements for podcasts

  • Chain-of-title checks

  • Distribution and licensing offers

In order

The paper a project needs, from script to release

Most of it can be done before the first day of shooting or the first episode.

  1. 01

Step 1: The script and the idea

If it was written with someone else, or adapted from something, I check who owns it and write the agreement that says so.

  2. 02

Step 2: The people on camera and behind it

A release for every person who appears and a short deal memo for each crew member, so credits, pay and rights are written down before the shoot.

  3. 03

Step 3: The places and the music

Location releases for every site, and licenses for any song or sample the edit uses, cleared before you lock the cut.

  4. 04

    Step 4: The finished work

A rights checklist for festival submissions, and a read of any distribution, licensing or sponsor agreement that follows.
