Daisy Fontaneda

Founder and lead attorney

I read the deal, mark it in pink and call you to go through it.

I grew up in a house where somebody was always rehearsing. After law school I started reading contracts for the people in that house, and I never stopped.

My office is on Michigan Avenue, but most clients meet me on a screen from wherever they make their work. I read every deal myself, mark it in pink and call you to talk it through. I don't take a percentage of what you earn: you pay one flat fee for the job.

Sample matters

The kind of work I do

  • Signed

Producer agreement for a debut album

The artist kept ownership of the masters, and the producer kept a royalty on net sales.

    Sample

  • Registered

    Trademark for a band name

Filed in one class; the trademark office examines every application and made its own decision.

    Sample

  • Cleared

    Sample license for a single

Written permission from the rights holder before release, so the song reached streaming without a takedown.

    Sample

These sample matters are invented to show the kind of work. Every matter is different, and an outcome in one says nothing about another.
